In my desperation I've now found the app crash reports retained by windows (see below).

The software flicks up a lightening fast splash screen (which I assume has some sort of error message on it) but its impossible to read and I can't work out how to capture it. I have regulalry completed uninstalled, then deleted all trace of Basecamp existence from my laptop, including registry entries. Basecamp has always been flakey but I have not managed to get it to work for more than a year. I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows 7.
